Practical 4
For this practical session, we had to use the knowledge and techniques we learned in the previous practical session on cardboard joineries to create a small game. We decided to make a catapult shooting game where we have to use the catapult to shoot small paper balls into a target to obtain points. The player with the most points will win the game.
We used a combination of folds, tabs and slots in order to make our catapult. We even had to visit a nearby food court to get a pair of wooden chopsticks to use as the pivot of our catapult. We use rubber bands as our spring mechanism. In order to launch a paper ball using our catapult, we had to load a paper ball onto the cardboard bucket which we press down which pulls the rubber band and stores elastic potential energy and release to launch the paper ball.
We had to present and demonstrate our product to the class. The class was allowed to vote for their favourite product where we and another group was tried for the first place!
Lastly, we were tasked to produce a 30 seconds promotional videos to be shown in front of primary school students. This is what we came up with!
